Help / A useful way forward

Using Help Brief Builder

How to start, keep, reopen, and use your Help Brief Builder work.

Explain the help you need so a useful conversation can begin.

Open Help Brief Builder

Start with the work in front of you

  1. Describe the situation, what you have tried, and the outcome you want.
  2. Add the scope, exclusions, constraints, timing, and budget information you are comfortable sharing.
  3. Review the questions and next step. Download reusable copy to revise the brief, or a reading copy to discuss.

Keep it and pick it up again

The reusable JSON keeps the brief and question selections. Review every included detail before sharing.

  1. Check your browser’s Downloads for the actual file. Keep the .json extension; a meaningful name and date can help you recognize the copy.
  2. Choose Open saved work below, select that file, and check the tool and summary shown.
  3. Continue in the tool. If there is already work open there, review the replacement prompt. Cancel to keep editing or download the current work before replacing it.

What to keep in view

Writing a brief does not hire anyone, confirm fees, or send a message. Agree responsibilities and terms with the person separately.

If it does not look right

If the file will not open, leave the original unchanged and read the error. A reading copy cannot substitute for the editable JSON. If you reopened an older copy, look for a later download; do not overwrite the current work while checking.

Keep your open draft?

Continuing will discard your unsaved changes. You can return to the draft and save or download it first.
